A monstrous villain, massive in size, foaming at the mouth, someone never to have known or will experience love... In other words, the image of a feminist created by the media. Growing up, I always had a distorted vision of what a feminism was. The image in my head of what I considered to be a ‘powerful woman’ was an amalgamation of stereotypes created over time to deter woman from feminism. Even today, in the world that’s packed full of incredible people breaking gender boundaries, there’s still such a lack of understanding of what a feminist means. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, an inspiring feminist from Nigeria, defines feminism as “The social, political and economic equality of the sexes”.Equality. A word that roles so easily off the end of everyone's’ tongue and yet is still deemed to be an unobtainable goal.Women across the world are breaking the glass ceiling and doing things that 100 years ago, couldn’t have been imagined. So that encourages me to ask you, what unimaginable things could happen for women in 100 years?
